Readers!
I have yet another link to send you. This one takes you to an excerpt from the novel AND a one-question interview featured at the online magazine Hypertext. My one question has to do with the setting of THE WOLF TONE, so I hope you like my answer:
Hi Christy: Loved your “one question” answer! It can be hard to even think about the West without buying into the mythology that place names call up. “Deaton” is reassuringly image free – not like Wolf Point, Pony, Ten Sleep, Fishtail, etc. I did buy your book, but am having to delay reading it for awhile. In addition to my mediation practice, my legal clinic nonprofit and some work for my church, I am taking a course in Native American lit–fascinating but a real time eater. I am saving “Wolf Tone” for May!
You will also recognize many, many places. See Kerrybethwilliams comment!!!
Love it, Christy! And I’m glad you mentioned the blend-in of Bozeman, because I swear I have real-life Jazzercised in your fictional aerobic studio located behind a marijuana dispensary and resale store across the street from a Perkins…
oh, you have. You have. It may interest you to know that the entire idea unfolded for me in the year I was in that studio, watching those dudes out the window….
That is so great to know! I can totally picture it…with strains of “Can’t Feel My Face” pounding in your ears. Of course, there’s still plenty of intrigue if you’re looking to return for inspiration – now we shake it next to the DMV and around the corner from a vape shop! I smell a second novel brewing…
